Where to stay in Siolim, North Goa? In the village itself, somewhere small and quiet, rather than on the crowded beach belt. Siolim sits on the Chapora river, 8 minutes from Chapora and Vagator beaches and about 35 minutes from Mopa airport. You’re close to the sand, but you sleep somewhere calm. If you’re coming as a family or a group, look for a stay with private living rooms and pools.

We’re The Ten, an all-suite boutique resort in Siolim with ten suites, 25 bedrooms and five pools, one of them a rooftop infinity pool. Below is our honest take on where Siolim fits in North Goa, how it stacks up against Assagao and Anjuna, when to come, and what kind of stay works here.

Why stay in Siolim instead of on the beach?

Because you get a proper Goan village, and the beaches are still a short drive away. Most people spend their days on the beach and their evenings at a restaurant. From Siolim, both are 5 to 20 minutes off, and at night you come back to a quiet lane instead of a party strip.

Here’s what the village itself has:

  • Portuguese-era houses, paddy fields and St Anthony’s Church, the village’s best-known landmark
  • The Chapora river along its northern edge. The Siolim bridge is a good spot for sunset.
  • Quiet nights, because there are no big clubs in the village
  • Good food close by. Jamun and Tamil Table are both about 5 minutes away.

How far is Siolim from the airport and the beaches?

Siolim is about 35 minutes by road from Mopa airport (GOX), where most North Goa flights land. Dabolim (GOI) is around 70 minutes south. The closest big railway station is Thivim, about 35 minutes away.

Taxis and app cabs do come out to the village, but most of our guests hire a car or a scooter for day trips.

Siolim vs Assagao vs Anjuna: which is the best area to stay in North Goa?

It comes down to how much noise you want. Siolim is the quietest of the three and the closest to the Pernem beaches. Assagao is for people who plan their trip around food. Anjuna is for people who want to be near the parties and the market.

Where to stay in Siolim: which kind of stay suits you?

You’ll mostly find three kinds of places here: private villas, small homestays and boutique resorts. They suit very different trips.

  • Private villas give you lots of space, but the service, food and upkeep depend entirely on the owner.
  • Homestays and guesthouses are affordable and local. Most don’t have a pool or room for a group.
  • All-suite boutique resorts give you villa space plus hotel service: daily housekeeping, a chef and someone at the front desk.

If there are 6 to 12 of you, or three generations travelling together, we’d pick an all-suite resort over a private villa. Everyone gets their own suite, and you still meet at the pool and the dinner table.

What is it like to stay at The Ten, Siolim?

The Ten has ten suites set around a shared courtyard, and no two look the same. Architect Rita Mody Joshi gave each one its own layout and colours. Our founders also run Vivenda dos Palhaços in Majorda and Ciaran’s in Palolem.

Here’s what you get:

  • 10 suites and 25 bedrooms, with 1 to 4 bedrooms per suite
  • 5 pools, one of them a rooftop infinity pool looking out over Siolim
  • Private plunge pools in the four ground-floor suites
  • Private balconies in the five first-floor suites
  • A private living room and a stocked pantry in every suite
  • The Ten Table, a private five- or six-course meal in your suite, by the pool or in the terrace garden
  • Menus you plan with our head chef: North Indian, coastal Goan, European, Italian or barbecue
  • No corkage, so bring your own drinks (we can arrange a bartender)
  • Breakfast until noon

We also cap our bookings. Once half the suites are booked for a date, we stop taking reservations, so the pools and courtyard never feel crowded. You can book one suite or take over the whole estate for a family get-together or a celebration.

Every layout is on our Stay page. If a private pool is high on your list, read our guide to private pool villas in North Goa.

  • Go to the Anjuna flea market on a Wednesday
  • Book dinner at one of Assagao’s restaurants
  • Walk the village lanes to St Anthony’s Church and the old Portuguese houses
  • Or stay in: a lazy afternoon by the pool, then dinner at The Ten Table

Yes, especially if you want quiet. Siolim is a riverside village 8 to 9 minutes from Chapora and Vagator beaches and about 35 minutes from Mopa airport. It works well for families, groups and couples who want the beaches and restaurants close by, without the noise of Anjuna or Baga at night.
About 35 minutes by road from Manohar International Airport, Mopa (GOX), where most North Goa flights land. Dabolim (GOI) is around 70 minutes away. If you’re landing late at night in peak season, pre-book a taxi or ask your hotel to send a pickup.
Pick Siolim if you want quiet, river views and quick trips to Chapora, Vagator, Ashwem and Morjim. Pick Assagao if your trip is mostly about its restaurants and cafes. They’re only about 15 minutes apart, so you can stay in Siolim and still eat in Assagao most nights.
Chapora Beach, about 5.1 km or 8 minutes by road. Vagator is 5.8 km (9 minutes) and Ozran is 6.1 km (11 minutes). Ashwem and Morjim are across the Chapora bridge in Pernem, 10 to 15 minutes away, and they’re usually quieter than the Bardez beaches.
November to February, when it’s dry and sunny at around 20 to 32°C. Late December to early January is the busiest and priciest time, so book 6 to 8 weeks ahead. If you can visit on 24 June, you’ll catch São João, Siolim’s famous monsoon festival.
Yes. At The Ten you can book the whole estate: all ten suites and 25 bedrooms, five pools and private dining. Families book it for reunions, milestone birthdays and small weddings. Smaller groups can book individual suites of 1 to 4 bedrooms instead.
