Where to stay in Siolim, North Goa? In the village itself, somewhere small and quiet, rather than on the crowded beach belt. Siolim sits on the Chapora river, 8 minutes from Chapora and Vagator beaches and about 35 minutes from Mopa airport. You’re close to the sand, but you sleep somewhere calm. If you’re coming as a family or a group, look for a stay with private living rooms and pools.
We’re The Ten, an all-suite boutique resort in Siolim with ten suites, 25 bedrooms and five pools, one of them a rooftop infinity pool. Below is our honest take on where Siolim fits in North Goa, how it stacks up against Assagao and Anjuna, when to come, and what kind of stay works here.

Why stay in Siolim instead of on the beach?
Because you get a proper Goan village, and the beaches are still a short drive away. Most people spend their days on the beach and their evenings at a restaurant. From Siolim, both are 5 to 20 minutes off, and at night you come back to a quiet lane instead of a party strip.
Here’s what the village itself has:
- Portuguese-era houses, paddy fields and St Anthony’s Church, the village’s best-known landmark
- The Chapora river along its northern edge. The Siolim bridge is a good spot for sunset.
- Quiet nights, because there are no big clubs in the village
- Good food close by. Jamun and Tamil Table are both about 5 minutes away.
How far is Siolim from the airport and the beaches?
Siolim is about 35 minutes by road from Mopa airport (GOX), where most North Goa flights land. Dabolim (GOI) is around 70 minutes south. The closest big railway station is Thivim, about 35 minutes away.
| From Siolim to | How far |
|---|---|
| Chapora Beach and Fort | 5.1 to 5.5 km, about 8 min |
| Vagator Beach | 5.8 km, about 9 min |
| Ozran (Little Vagator) | 6.1 km, about 11 min |
| Ashwem and Morjim | Across the Chapora bridge, 10 to 15 min |
| Mopa airport (GOX) | About 35 min |
| Dabolim airport (GOI) | About 70 min |
Taxis and app cabs do come out to the village, but most of our guests hire a car or a scooter for day trips.
Siolim vs Assagao vs Anjuna: which is the best area to stay in North Goa?
It comes down to how much noise you want. Siolim is the quietest of the three and the closest to the Pernem beaches. Assagao is for people who plan their trip around food. Anjuna is for people who want to be near the parties and the market.
| Area | Feel | Nearest beach | Nightlife | Best for |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Siolim | Riverside village, old Goan homes | Chapora, Vagator: about 8 to 9 min | Low, quiet evenings | Families, groups, slow stays |
| Assagao | Leafy villa suburb, chef-led restaurants | Anjuna, Vagator: about 15 min | Medium | Food trips, couples |
| Anjuna | Busy beach town, Wednesday flea market | On the beach | High | Party trips, solo travellers |
| Morjim / Ashwem | Quiet beaches across the river | On the beach | Low to medium | Beach days, sunsets |
If you want Assagao’s restaurants and Anjuna’s market without sleeping in either, Siolim sits neatly between them.

Where to stay in Siolim: which kind of stay suits you?
You’ll mostly find three kinds of places here: private villas, small homestays and boutique resorts. They suit very different trips.
- Private villas give you lots of space, but the service, food and upkeep depend entirely on the owner.
- Homestays and guesthouses are affordable and local. Most don’t have a pool or room for a group.
- All-suite boutique resorts give you villa space plus hotel service: daily housekeeping, a chef and someone at the front desk.
If there are 6 to 12 of you, or three generations travelling together, we’d pick an all-suite resort over a private villa. Everyone gets their own suite, and you still meet at the pool and the dinner table.
What is it like to stay at The Ten, Siolim?
The Ten has ten suites set around a shared courtyard, and no two look the same. Architect Rita Mody Joshi gave each one its own layout and colours. Our founders also run Vivenda dos Palhaços in Majorda and Ciaran’s in Palolem.
Here’s what you get:
- 10 suites and 25 bedrooms, with 1 to 4 bedrooms per suite
- 5 pools, one of them a rooftop infinity pool looking out over Siolim
- Private plunge pools in the four ground-floor suites
- Private balconies in the five first-floor suites
- A private living room and a stocked pantry in every suite
- The Ten Table, a private five- or six-course meal in your suite, by the pool or in the terrace garden
- Menus you plan with our head chef: North Indian, coastal Goan, European, Italian or barbecue
- No corkage, so bring your own drinks (we can arrange a bartender)
- Breakfast until noon
We also cap our bookings. Once half the suites are booked for a date, we stop taking reservations, so the pools and courtyard never feel crowded. You can book one suite or take over the whole estate for a family get-together or a celebration.
Every layout is on our Stay page. If a private pool is high on your list, read our guide to private pool villas in North Goa.
